FAQ

Our organization is called Rubies, and is designed to help girls realize their true value, their unique design, and to help them become women with character
that are truly “worth far more than rubies.”

Who can lead a Rubies club or camp?

Rubies Girls’ Clubs is meant to be for anyone who has a heart for raising up the next generation of skilled and godly young women. Those leading the courses should have a passion to see ladies grow in their God-given gifts and potential, while challenging girls to be accepting of their own limitations. Each of us has our own bends. Some leaders are best suited for the kitchen, while others are best suited for the garden. Just as we want to see the girls grow in knowledge and skill, choosing leaders who have the heart to grow in leadership and some knowledge of the topic is great! You may be surprised all the talent you find in women all throughout your community of believers!

Who can join Rubies?

Rubies is designed for girls ages 8-18. On rare occasion, you may have a student that completes their crown after their 18th birthday, but that would be due to an early birthday that falls prior to Princess Night of the current year. Likewise, you may have a 7-year-old girl who is close to the age cut-off for Proverbs 31 camp. With ample camp spots, you may choose to allow someone to participate in this situation. Nevertheless, the curriculum is best suited for 8 and up based on maturity and dexterity.

How much does it cost girls to join a club?

The enrollment cost for girls to become a registered member is $35.00 annually. This is paid at the time of initial registration and each following year as the girl remains active in a club.

This first year’s fee may be waived if a girl chooses to purchase the Girl’s Guide to Rubies member book at the time of her initial registration. Registration is not contingent upon this purchase; however, it is highly recommended, and it is used for the entire 10 years of the Rubies journey. The Girls’ Guide to Rubies is $99.95 plus tax, and it can be purchased independently at any point in the girls’ Rubies experience.

How much does it cost to remain active in a club?

The expense associated with each club may vary based on charter rules, but to remain a registered member through Rubies Girls Clubs Global, you will need to pay your annual membership fee of $35.00. Additionally, it is highly recommended that each girl purchases the Girl’s Guide to Rubies at some point during their involvement. As previously mentioned, this guide is $99.95, and may be purchased during registration to wave the first year’s membership fee only.

Do I have to own a sewing machine to attend Rubies?

Individual clubs will determine supply needs for all their events. In many cases, clubs will borrow large equipment, but you should contact your local club to know exactly what they have available.

If you determine to invest in a machine, your leader will have a guide to buying something that will be a good fit. While you do not have to buy the most expensive machine on the market, it is important to have something that will run smoothly, otherwise you risk having a very frustrating experience. Not all machines are created equal, and a machine that needs some maintenance may leave a beginner throwing in the towel sooner than she should.

Is Rubies like home economics classes? Is it only sewing and cooking?

No, Rubies is so much more! Yes, we do have sewing and cooking camps/classes but there is so much more to Rubies than sewing and cooking.
